COD Fraud in India: How It Happens and How to Stop It

COD fraud is when someone places a cash-on-delivery order with no intention of accepting it. The seller dispatches the product, the courier attempts delivery, the customer is absent or refuses, and the package returns. The seller pays courier charges both ways.
How do I identify a fraud COD order before dispatching?
Red flags: phone number not reachable, delivery address vague or incomplete, customer has refused delivery before, order from a high-RTO pin code, or suspiciously large order from a new customer. Call or WhatsApp to confirm before dispatching.
Can I block a customer from placing COD orders?
